The Horstead Centre is a well-established residential outdoor activity centre and retreat, with a strong affiliation to the Diocese of Norwich. Our Charitable Mission is to “provide children and young people with the best possible opportunities for educational, personal, social, and spiritual development, through an exciting programme of residential stays or activity days.” 

We offer 60-bed accommodation across a variety of rooms including single and twin rooms for leaders and a variety of dormitory sizes for our visitors. We have a fully equipped games room offering table football, table tennis, pool and a range of games which guarantee something for everyone. Our spacious, light dining room can seat 45 comfortably and for full house groups of 60 we have 2 meal servings. 

Outside we deliver a range of on-site adventurous activities including an amazing purpose built Climbing Tower with Zip Wire and Bouldering Cave, a Low Ropes course with Tunnels, a "Vertical Challenge" high wire activity, an Archery range and an awesome Crate Stack activity. A range of Team Building challenges like the Platinum Bar Grabber, Nightline, Spiders Web and Toxic Waste are all favourites with our visitors. In the Spinney we offer a wide range of Bushcraft activities where you can learn skills to survive and thrive in the outdoors, such as fire-lighting and cooking on an open fire, sterilising water from the stream and building a waterproof shelter. Behind the Spinney we find the tranquil waters of the River Bure where we run all manner of water activities including Canoeing, Kayaking, Giant Stand-up Paddle Boards and Raft Building. Unwinding in the evening is easy too, with our local village trail, night walks, facilities for bonfires and covered barbeque area for all weather outdoor fun. 

We hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, Adventure mark and we are members of the Institute of Outdoor for Learning.
